The Regional Energy Network (REN) is a proposed California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) ratepayer funded residential energy efficiency program that, if approved, will go into effect in fiscal year 2018-2019. The Network would allow the counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura to operate collaboratively as an energy efficiency Program Administrator to design and deliver energy saving services tailored to fit the needs of homeowners on the Central Coast.

The Network is designed to include workforce development and support for local contractors, support for local building departments in meeting code compliance and State mandates, local control of rate payer dollars, inclusion of multiple financing options for projects and equity for rural and hard to reach customers. The Network will further enhance the Energy Coach service by allowing coaches to directly deliver energy and water efficiency improvements.

For the SLO Green Challenge, the REN will provide mechanisms by which residents can take action. Keep an eye out for when it passes!
